An introduction is in order ...
Patricia Cerra is an award-winning actor, producer, director and artistic leader with a multi-faceted national career. She has worked in film, as a host and in theatre on over fifty productions with dozens of companies. She has been recognized with the Sterling Award for Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role, Comedy, and has received another Sterling Nomination for Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role - Play.
Patricia is also a consultant, facilitator, educator, mentor and dramaturg. She has the pleasure of world premiering new work in a variety of positions and finds great joy in new work development.
Some of the companies she's worked with and has developed new work at include: The Citadel Theatre, Alberta Playwrights Network, Alberta Theatre Projects, Theatre Network, Shadow Theatre, Workshop West, Theatre Network, Neptune Theatre, Teatro la Quindicina, Nightswimming Theatre, The Musical Stage Company, Tarragon Theatre, The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Bard on the Beach, Canadian Stage, Vita Brevis Arts, The National Arts Centre, Nightwood Theatre, and the Banff Playwrights Lab where she collaborated with national and international playwrights on over a dozen brand new pieces.
She has taught residencies, completed several tours, and built theatre intensives structured around devised creation for young people. Patricia debuted her short children’s play as a part of the Sprouts Festival with Concrete Theatre.
Patricia was on the Board of Directors at Theatre Alberta. She has served her community in various committees and initiatives. She was a leading co-contributor to the 35//50 Initiative YEG.
She was the Associate Producer for Vita Brevis Arts & the National Arts Centre on the two-part production of the critically acclaimed national best-selling novel Fall On Your Knees which toured to Canadian Stage, Neptune Theatre, The National Arts Centre & The Grand Theatre.
She was also the Associate Artistic Director at the Musical Stage Company, the largest and leading charitable musical theatre company in Canada.
